2016 Birthday Party!
On Wednesday, October 5 the Grand Ballroom at Webster Hall was filled with revelers to celebrate the Neighborhood Preservation Center's 17th Birthday Party. With music from Angel Rey and Cousin Cole and food generously provided by The Grey Dog and Veselka, the stage was set for night of dancing, mingling, and fun. All to support the Center's work and the work of all the groups and individuals that come through our doors each day. To see photos from the Party, click here.
Our theme of the evening was the 1970s, a special time for the Neighborhood Preservation Center. It was in 1975 that NPC's sponsoring organization, the St. Mark's Historic Landmark Fund, was born. 1975 was also the year that the photos for the album covers of Foghat's "Fool for the City" were taken in front of the historic Ernest Flagg Rectory (where NPC's office is located); the album was released in September of that year.
On Sunday, August 14, 2016 the Neighborhood Preservation Center and St. Mark's Church In-the-Bowery celebrated the 41st anniversary of the album. We were honored to have Roger Earl, the original band member featured on the cover, back on East 11th Street to take the photos again.
